Volunteer Position Description
All of our Volunteer roles require a time commitment of approximately 2 hours per week. We know you all have jobs, or school or families and other commitments. We just need a couple of “extra pairs of hands” to deliver our products and services to those who need them!
We so appreciate your offer to volunteer. High school students will be provided Volunteer Hours!
Please review the list below of highly sought-after volunteer positions and skill sets. However, we are also open to volunteers with various other skill sets.
Administrative support
BMI is looking for someone with strong organizational skills and who is a team player in order to provide administrative assistance to BMI its mentorship program. Responsibilities include data entry, record keeping, scheduling, and general office tasks. Help with organizing and maintaining program-related documents, databases, and files.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with scheduling meetings and events and coordinating logistics.
- Organizing and maintaining program-related documents, files, and records in an orderly and easily accessible manner. Ensuring confidentiality and data security.
- Drafting and proofreading program-related communications, including emails, letters, and other documents. Responding to inquiries from mentors, mentees, and program stakeholders promptly and professionally.
- Providing general office assistance with mailings, document preparation, and other administrative duties.
- Working closely with the Executive Director and collaborating with other team members and volunteers to ensure smooth program operations. Providing support and assistance to other volunteers or staff members as needed.
Social media manager
BMI seeks a highly motivated, creative individual with experience and a passion for conveying messaging through digital design to work as a social media manager. The Social media manager will respond to comments, compile marketing campaigns and create content to enhance BMI’s online presence and gather attention to BMI’s various programs and events.
Responsibilities:
The Social Media Manager will administer the organization’s marketing and advertising. Administration includes but is not limited to the following:
- Deliberate planning, strategy, and goal setting
- Development of brand awareness and online reputation
- Content management and creation (including website)
- Cultivation of potential mentors and mentees
- Reputation management
- Retaining and engaging our mentors
- Providing engagement satisfaction
- Create and send a consistent newsletter to the BMI community.
- Increasing Community leadership and participation (both online and offline)
- Create a regular publishing schedule and promote content through social advertising.
Speaker/Facilitator
BMI is excited to announce an opportunity for a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join our team as a Speaker/Facilitator. We seek someone passionate about inspiring change, engaging with audiences, and sharing valuable insights. As a Speaker/Facilitator at BMI, you will have the platform to connect with our community and contribute to the success of our programs and events. We are looking for a motivated individual who can captivate audiences, deliver impactful presentations, and facilitate engaging discussions.
Responsibilities:
- The Speaker/Facilitator will be responsible for preparing and delivering dynamic and informative presentations to the audience.
- The Speaker/Facilitator will lead and facilitate discussions during sessions, creating an interactive and inclusive environment for participants.
- The Speaker/Facilitator should possess a deep understanding of the subject matter related to the mentorship program. They will share their expertise, insights, and practical tips to help participants gain valuable knowledge and skills in their respective fields.
- The Speaker/Facilitator will collaborate with the BMI team to align the content and objectives of the mentorship program.
- The Speaker/Facilitator will serve as a source of inspiration and motivation for participants.
Mentor
BMI is actively searching for individuals who believe in the value they can bring to black professionals entering the workforce. We are looking for professionals, regardless of their race, religion, or professional background, who possess leadership qualities, a passion for teaching, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in groups, with a positive attitude. If you meet these requirements and are eager to make a difference as a mentor, we invite you to join our mentorship program at BMI.

Students Volunteer
Student volunteers make a difference in society by giving their time and ability to help in different volunteer activities. In return, they develop life skills, become well-minded individuals, and get the satisfaction of helping others.
A variety of roles are available based on needs and seasons.
